OFA Eye Certification Registry (CAER)
Many disease and disorders that affect a dogs eyes have genetic factors.
- Cataracts can affect the Lagotto Romagnolo and are one of the ten disorders the OFA recommends against breeding affected dogs in all breeds.
- No minimum age requirement for exam. Certifications are valid for one (1) year from the date of the exam. Dogs being bred should have a valid certification on record prior to being bred. We recomend that dogs in our database have done a yearly eye exam.
- Only a board certified veterinary ophthalmologist may perform the eye clearance exam.
- The “CERF” registry closed in June 2014 – dogs listed as having ‘CERF’ clear exam may not be current.
